Thief Alert alerts you if someone is trying to steal your iPhone. Before you leave your desk / cube at work, just enable the Thief Alert app, and if anyone lifts or tries to steal your iPhone, it immediately detects the movement and the alarm goes off.

IMP: IPOD TOUCH WITHOUT SPEAKERS WILL NOT WORK !

This not only surprises the person who is trying to steal it, but also alerts nearby people. Just like a car alarm. If you are nearby, you can run back at the alarm. The Thief Alert app uses the inbuilt accelerometer to detect movement and the alarm goes off for 5 seconds EVERY TIME it detects significant movement.

NOW PRESSING HOME WILL NOT STOP THE APP. Every few seconds, the alarm sound will play till you DE-ACTIVATE ALARM WITH SECRET PASSCODE which only you will know.

NOW SET ANY PICTURE from your picture gallery as the background ! Alternatively choose from a preselected set of background images.

A nice deterrent for sure and definitely worth a try ! If you like it, tell everyone. If you do not like it, please tell us and we will include your feedback in our next update.

Few points:
1) The app disables auto-lock. So it will work even if the iPhone is left alone for a long time.

2) The alarm is 5 seconds by design. It is fired every time motion is detected. So if someone is lifting it and running away, it will continuously alert you.

3) Pressing the home button will NOT stop the app.

4) In the version 1.1 update, various settings were added.
a) Set a delay before the motion detection starts. So you get time to place your iPhone before the detection starts.

b) As the auto-lock is disabled at the start, few were concerned about the thief getting access to your data without the password lock. Now you can enable the feature where at the first alarm / movement detection, the idle timer is started again. So if your screen saver / auto lock was set to 1 minute, in a minute, the screen will lock (configured from iPhone settings). So by the time the thief gets to access your phone/ iPod, the password lock would kick in. (thanks for the review).

5) If technically possible and useful, requested features will be added in newer updates. So thank you once again for the support.

Great little app.. Lets you know right away if your iPhone has been moved from where you last left it. Loud alarm signal. Works perfect!!

I would never leave my iPod Touch anywhere alone but good to have. Works as advertised so any bad reviews should be removed.

Pretty cool app, features I think should be updated (if possible) 1. Ability to be turned on when iPhone is locked 2. Longer siren 3. Require a passcode to stop the siren Other than that great job!

I love the way this app works. I just wish it could allow the iPhone to lock while Thief Alert stayed functional.

note to all ipod touch owners this app will not work since the touch does not have adequate speakers.

The performance is excelent but the downfall is that if the thief accidentaly presses the home button the app is disabled and the iPhone will be and open book(until it goes to standby that is) so the disable method should be impolroved and then Ill give this app a five star rating. That is all.

Some bad moments

It wont work if the device is locked and when the alarm goes off just press the "home" button and the alarm will go off or just wait 5 seconds for the alarm to shut off.

i would not recomend it because...1. the alarm isint that loud on my ipod 2. one dollar! stuf like this should be free! 3. its only foi iphone or the NEW ipod

Great idea for an app but it goes off whenever an email is forwarded to my iPhone and the email notifier vibrates (which is about every two minutes). And when I receive a call while the Thief Alert is activated, as soon as the call is terminated the alarm goes off. Annoying. Plus, it apparently doesnt work when the backlight is off and the screen is locked until the home button is pushed, then it goes off. So if a thief knows enough to push the home button (the only button on the phone) and set it off, its a pretty safe bet they will push the button again right away to disable it. Im totally bummed.

Anyone can press the home button and you wouldnt hear the alarm. I bet if you changed that more people would buy it.

Yes the siren is pretty cool but the thief will turn off siren (alarm) by just pressing home, it needs to have a pass code to deactivate alarm, otherwise it renders it useless. Alarm will sound for couple of seconds and as soon as the home button is pressed it will stop. I like "Motion Alarm" better although it has the same problem, however "Motion Alarm" has announced an update that will include a pass code. Is thief going to have this update anytime soon?????
